About Us

ONYX InSight is a growing technology and engineering organisation in the renewable energy sector. Our advanced sensing, software and machine learning products are deployed on wind turbines around the world. Headquartered in the UK, we have offices in the US, Australia, India and Korea.

 

The role

From a foundation of strong organic growth, we are making a strategic investment in geographic expansion. We are now seeking a manager with a strong background in technical, consulting or SaaS business development to lead this next stage of our strategic expansion in Southern Europe and Latin America. Deep knowledge of the wind sector and at least one of the large OEM/IPP organisations in the region will be key to success in this role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of our expansion strategy in region
  • Develop and lead relationships with key customers and distributors in the wind sector in region
  • Establish, build capability and lead the new ONYX team in region
  • Delivery of revenue and margin contribution as part of the wider European business
  • Business reporting to the European Sales Director
  • Collaborate with the wider ONYX team internally to optimise our customer value proposition
  • Travel to customer offices to pitch products and services
  • Design and deliver successful customer, event and digital marketing campaigns
  • Foster a strong inter office collaboration between commercial and delivery teams

 

Person Specification

  • 5-10yrs business development and commercial experience in the wind sector
  • Experience working at or dealing with major OEMs, utilities and/or IPPs
  • Significant experience of promoting technical products and services
  • Great knowledge of the renewable energy customer landscape in the region
  • A background in the wind industry with a strong network
  • Experience of developing distributor relationships
  • Tenacious, persistent and committed in approach
  • Post-graduate commercial qualification
  • First degree in engineering discipline
  • European language skills highly desirable

The opportunity

ONYX InSight is an established technology and engineering organisation in the renewable energy sector. Our advanced sensing, software and machine learning products are deployed on wind turbines and mining and industrial equipment around the world. Headquartered in the UK, with our Colorado office as a major technical and commercial hub.

We are now seeking an indirect channel sales leader to extend our service offering further into the mining and industrial sector in the US region. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and visionary channel sales professional to establish and implement a channel partner development and marketing strategy for an important new market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement our indirect channel program within the North American region for the mining and industrial sector
  • Identify and activate specific business, partner and region opportunities to develop revenue and margin from this program in Year 1
  • Ensure sustainable relationships with key partners that deliver commercial value for both ONYX and the channel
  • Work with engineering to scope and price various pilots and technical options that the channel partners bring
  • Identify direct opportunities to move the business forward where opportune
  • Develop a product marketing program to build brand and provide channel partners with requisite sales collateral
  • Manage commercial and legal risk by implementing contractual terms aligned to the delivery of the program
  • Mitigate internal and external conflicts around the indirect channel to ensure a consistent and compliant approach
  • Work effectively with colleagues across technical, marketing and sales internally.
  • Agree leading indicators of program success and evaluate performance and action re-iterations of approach to adjust as required.

 

Person Specification

  • 5 years+ experience of developing and building successful indirect channel programmes in the US marketplace
  • Relevant knowledge of the large machinery in the mining and/or industrial sectors
  • Experienced in product marketing techniques required to support successful reseller programmes
  • Knowledge of the commercial and legal factors influencing successful channel marketing partnerships
  • The personal drive, commitment and vision required to scope, implement and sustain a major strategic sales and marketing campaign
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders in the organization for support and then to lead this business expansion challenge
  • Motivated by the opportunity to make a personal impact on the growth of the organisation in the near term
  • A collaborative approach, able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to undertake extensive travel across the US
  • Engineering and/or business marketing degree
